京都大学学術情報メディアセンターでは、各分野でご活躍の講師をお招きし、それぞれの研究開発活動の内容や現在抱えている課題についてご紹介いただき、参加者を含めて広く議論を行う機会として、月例セミナーを開催しています。
3月27日の学術情報メディアセンターセミナーでは、Apereo Foundation が開発するオープンソースソフトウェアの活用事例として，Patrick Miller 氏、Xiaojing Duan 氏（米国ノートルダム大学）、Janice A. Smith 博士（Karuta Project Steering Committee Lead, Apereo Foundation）を臨時にお招きし、ご講演いただきます。学内外を問わず多数の方のご参加をお待ちしています。

| プログラム | ＜開催趣旨＞ 高等教育機関の教育現場では、LMS （Learning Management System）の普及、e ポートフォリオやラーニングアナリティクス等のエビデンスに基づいた学修支援等、大学教育におけるICT利活用がますます拡大・深化しています。一方で、厳しい財政状況が今後も続くことが予想される中、ICT導入・管理運用・利用支援に係る財政的・人的リソース予算はますます厳しさを増しています。「教育学習支援のセルフ化・自動化」というICTの特長を生かし、いかにコストを抑えながら効果的かつ継続的に取り組めるかは、大学経営の根幹にも関わる極めて重要な課題です。 今回の学術情報メディアセンターセミナーでは、大学における教育・研究のためのオープンソースソフトウェアの開発を世界規模で進めている Apereo Foundation （京都大学も会員） の支援の下、学内外のコミュニティとともにオープンソースソフトウェアの利活用を進める事例として、米国ノートルダム大学におけるラーニングアナリティクスの取り組みと、フランスの大学における eポートフォリオの取り組みをそれぞれ Patrick Miller 氏、Xiaojing Duan 氏 （米国ノートルダム大学）、Janice A. Smith博士 （Karuta Project Steering Committee Lead, Apereo Foundation）にご講演いただきます。 ＜プログラム＞ ◆16時30分～16時40分 ： 開催趣旨 “ 教育におけるオープンソースソフトウェアの価値 ” 梶田 将司 （情報環境機構 / 学術情報メディアセンター 教授、Apereo Foundation Board） ◆16時40分～17時05分 ： 招待講演１ 【使用言語：英語、同時通訳なし】 講演題目： “ An Overview of University of Notre Dame and of Implementation of Open Apereo Learning Analytics ” 講演者： Patrick Miller （University of Notre Dame, https://members.educause.edu/patrick-miller） 講演概要： The University of Notre Dame is a private Catholic higher education institution that prides itself in its excellent undergraduate education that places it in the top 20 institutions of higher education in the United States. It has also grown its research graduate programs in the last 10 years by doubling its research funding from private and government grant programs. In order to support excellence in teaching, we have collaborated with our Kaneb Center for Teaching and Learning and our Office of Digital Learning to create an infrastructure that can take advantage of the advances being made in learning analytics. We selected the Apereo Open Learning Analytics platform because it supports the past and upcoming standards for learning analytics and is open and modular in its approach allowing us to tailor the system to our needs. We will describe our implementation but also provide some background on the historical trends which led us to implement such a platform. ◆17時05分～17時30分 ： 招待講演２ 【使用言語：英語、同時通訳なし】 講演題目： “ An Explanation of the Analytic Reports to Boost Student Performance ” 講演者： Xiaojing Duan （University of Notre Dame, https://members.educause.edu/xiaojing-duan） 講演概要： This presentation will begin by diving deeper into the architecture design of the Learning Analytics infrastructure at Notre Dame. Subsequently, it will show some sample data that can be collected from multiple learning platforms with this infrastructure. After the audience is familiar with the types of data and how they are collected, the presentation will share how we applied predictive analytics to the data and identified 2% of our First Year Experience (FYE) students who don’t retain to the second year, what boost methods we employed to increase their capacity to thrive, and the impact of our boosting efforts. Additionally, the presentation will demo some of the interactive visualization reports that were developed to share actionable insights on various aspects of the FYE program with different stakeholders. Furthermore, the presentation will share the lessons we learned from the FYE analytics project and how we expanded it to include some Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) gateway courses. The goal of this project is to identify underperforming STEM students as early as possible and boost their potential to thrive, thereby improving the overall STEM retention rate. ◆17時30分～18時00分 ： 招待講演３ 【使用言語：英語、同時通訳なし】 講演題目： “ Building Careers with ePortfolios: French Universities Collaborating Using Open Source ” 講演者： Janice A. Smith, Ph.D. （Karuta Project Steering Committee Lead, Apereo Foundation） 講演題目： The French university ePortfolio community has embraced the Karuta Open Source Portfolio and put it to use helping students build their careers. Some fifteen universities are collaborating with the French ministry of education to use Karuta to encourage students to link competencies to a variety of learning experiences, identify their most valued skills, and compare their skills to those required for 200 different career paths. Student work on portfolios is supported by a cross-cutting PPP course throughout their degree process. The end result is a sharable CV and mind map with clickable bubbles based on each student's skills and learning experiences. This presentation will highlight ways that the French university use of ePortfolios embodies a number of crucial strategies for success. |
