京都大学学術情報メディアセンターでは、各分野でご活躍の講師をお招きし、それぞれの研究開発活動の内容や現在抱えている課題についてご紹介いただき、参加者を含めて広く議論を行う機会として、月例セミナーを開催しています。
7月19日の学術情報メディアセンターセミナーでは、Hong Kong Polytechnic University の Dr. Bin Xiao 氏をお招きし、ご講演いただきます。学内外を問わず多数の方の参加をお待ちしております。

| プログラム | ◆13時00分～14時00分 【使用言語：英語、同時通訳なし】 講演者： Dr. Bin Xiao （Department of Computing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University ・ Associate Professor） 講演題目： Attacks in the Bitcoin and Blockchain Query Support Design 講演概要： Blockchain is a new technology and getting tremendous attention for its wide applications to substitute current business models. As a distributed and unchangeable database, current blockchain systems show significant potential to lower operational costs, increase tamper resistance, enforce contracts, and reduce fraud. Bitcoin, as the first digital cryptocurrency, now is the most popular blockchain application. Although designed for secure transactions, Bitcoin can be attacked, e.g., double spending, malicious forking. In this talk, we will first talk about mining attacks in the Bitcoin system, which can be applied in other public blockchain systems as well. The mining attack aims at increasing attacker’s profit but decreasing a mining pool’s rewards. Some preliminary results show that attackers can get more rewards in our approach than previous ones. We also notice that the efficiency and verifiability of querying in existing blockchain applications are very limited. Thus, we will then discuss a new architecture to enhance the query efficiency in a blockchain system. |
