ACCMS special seminar “Image Analysis across Disciplines”

Post date:2025/10/22

Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies (ACCMS) holds a seminar once a month. We invite active researchers from a variety of areas and ask them to give talks about their research activity or issues in performing research, hoping to provide an opportunity for fruitful discussion with participants.

At an ACCMS seminar at December 2(Tuesday), we invite Prof. Guillaume Caron, Co-director of CNRS-AIST Joint Robotics Laboratory). We hope to have a lot of participants.

Program

◆15:00~16:30
Speaker: Prof. Guillaume Caron (Co-director of CNRS-AIST Joint Robotics Laboratory)
Title: Robotics, heritage: round-trips on visual perception
Abstract: Robotics and cultural heritage apparently look very different fields: Robotics heads toward the future whereas cultural heritage rather studies the past. But visual perception is one of the many bonds that link both fields thanks to the novel cameras and algorithms that are developed and researched in each of these fields but reveal impactful in the other one. This is the scientific context of this talk that will present 360-degree visual perception works for robot simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) as well as robot visual servoing applied to heritage building archiving on the one hand and hyperspectral imaging for heritage stained-glasses archiving then introduced to robotics for improving visual SLAM. (The talk will be given in English.)
